World Health Summit Regional Meeting 2025: Highlighting Traditional Medicine as a Key Driver of Global Health Equity

In a groundbreaking opportunity to advance global health discussions in 2025, the World Health Summit (WHS) Regional Meeting is set to bring together experts from around the globe, including India, to explore the transformative potential of traditional medicine. The summit’s agenda focuses on scaling up access to holistic and time-tested practices, a critical step toward achieving health equity for all.

At this year’s meeting, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, Minister of State (I/C) under the Union Government of India, underlined the importance of traditional medicine as a cornerstone of global health initiatives. He highlighted that holistic care, rooted in ancient wisdom and deeply personalized, is essential for building health equity. The summit’s session on “Restoring Balance: Scaling up Access to Traditional Medicine” underscores its significance as a pivotal platform for dialogue.

The Global Health Equity Working Group (GHEWG) at the WHO, with collaboration from India’s Ministry of Ayush, aims to address this critical need. The meeting not only strengthens global health conversations but also recognizes India’s leadership in advancing traditional medicine. This partnership is vital for aligning global efforts with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which emphasize equitable access to holistic care.

The session on traditional medicine at the summit will explore how innovative approaches can unlock broader opportunities for inclusive healthcare, ensuring that every individual has safe and effective traditional medicine practices. As the 2nd WHO Traditional Medicine Global Summit begins in December, this meeting is a critical step toward fostering collaboration and innovation across regions.

With its focus on equity and holistic care, the World Health Summit Regional Meeting 2025 is not just a health event but a catalyst for meaningful change. It will inspire policies, initiatives, and partnerships that ensure traditional medicine’s full potential, contributing to global health equity and supporting India’s role as a global leader in this field.
