A Visionary Meeting for Future Agriculture in Nepal – The BIMSTEC Ministerial Meeting

Today, he’s set to attend the third BIMSTEC (BIMSTEC- Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) Agriculture Ministerial Meeting scheduled for 9th April, 2025. This significant event marks the first time BIMSTEC will engage with over 15 countries in agriculture to foster regional cooperation and development.
The meeting will feature agricultural ministers from India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, and Sri Lanka. The aim is to strengthen agricultural development partnerships across these nations. This initiative not only promotes economic growth but also addresses global challenges related to food security, rural development, and environmental sustainability.
During the event, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan will receive a formal greeting from Shri K.P. Sharma Oli, the Prime Minister of Nepal. Key moments will include a formal declaration signing the Memorandum of Understanding between the Governments of India and Nepal on agricultural cooperation. Additionally, he’ll engage in bilateral meetings with ministers from Bhutan (Younten Phuntsho) and India (Indramani Pandey), further expanding their partnership.
The meeting is likely to highlight opportunities for cross-border collaboration in agriculture, providing a platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas and plan joint initiatives.
