NHAI Rebars 14 Agencies for Irregular Fee Collection Activities
In a significant move to strengthen public cooperation with toll plazas, NHAI has announced the re bar of 14 agencies involved in irregular fee collection activities at Toll plazas. The decision came after an unprecedented campaign by UP Special Task Force led by Shri Raad Khan, who conducted raids at Atraila Shiv Ghulam Toll Plaza in Mirzapur district.
The authorities took immediate action, offering ‘Show Cause Notice’ to defaulting agencies and forfeiting their performance securities worth over Rs. 100 crores, which were encashed for breach of contract clauses. This move has sparked concern among the agencies, prompting them to seek re bar within a period of two years.
NHAI’s commitment to transparency is evident as it plans to hand over Toll plazas to new agencies appointed by authority. The action aims to ensure seamless operation and maintain public trust in toll services. However, this approach will come with stringent penalties for any lapses in contract compliance.
The decision highlights NHAI’s determination to uphold public safety and justice through effective cooperation. It serves as a stark reminder of the importance of accountability in infrastructure projects. As time proceeds, hope lies in the collaboration between agencies and NHAI, who aim to restore trust while upholding the highest standards in highway operations.
