KVIC Inaugural Exhibition and Toolkits Distribution: A Modern Vision for Khadi and Village Industries

In a significant milestone, KVIC initiated its Special Exhibition of Khadi at Rohini Delhi, marking the beginning of a meaningful initiative aimed at promoting Khadi and Village Industries. This event was supported by the Gramodyog Vikas Yojana (GVM) scheme, distributing 120 equipment and toolkits under GVM YOGAN, with recipients including 115 trainees from the Multi-Disciplinary Training Centre (MDTC) in Delhi.

Exhibition Highlights: The event took place on Saturday at ‘Khadi and Village Industries Bhawan,’ showcasing Khadi products across various cities. The exhibition showcased the distinctive identity of Khadi as a global brand, displayed products like electric potters, tools, and leather machines by artisans. The distribution under GVM YOGAN ensured that Khadi and Village Industries enthusiasts had access to quality tools and resources.

Key Distribution Details:

  • Electric Potters’ Wheel: Provided to 40 potters.
  • Electricalian Toolset: Given to 20 artisans.
  • Plumber Toolkit: Distributed to 20 artisans.
  • Mobile Repair Toolset: Sent to 20 beneficiaries.
  • Leather Machine: Available to 10 artisans.
  • Massala Making Toolset: Provided to another 10 artisans.

PM’s Vision forKhadi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the importance of Khadi as a national identity, inspired by his role in transforming Khadi. The PM highlighted increased sales and wages among artisans over 275% growth, showcasing the sector’s economic significance. Through events like the Khadi Fashion Show organized underPM’s guidance,Khadi became a modern garment, inspiring younger generations to embrace it.

Economic Impact:

  • Production Data: Last financial year saw production worth Rs 108 crore and sales at Rs 155 crore.
  • Job Creation: Over 1.87 crore jobs were created, with 10.17 lakh new jobs added in the past year.
  • Projects and Employment: More than 88 lakh projects were established, and over 10 lakh people secured employment under the PM’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).
