INS Trikand: A Mission to Help in the Central Arabian Sea

In a thrilling moment on April 4, 2025, the Indian Navy’s INS Trikand frigate demonstrated its capability to deploy stealth into an operational vessel, delivering crucial medical assistance. This mission showcased the Indian Navy’s commitment to humanitarian aid, impacting a Pakistani crew member in the Central Arabian Sea.

INS Trikand’s Mission Deployment: The INS Trikand was deployed during a distress call from Al Omeedi, a fishing vessel approximately 350 nautical miles east of Oman. Insisted on providing medical help to the injured crew member, who sustained severe injuries due to finger fractures and blood loss.

Incident Details: Upon interception, INS Trikand located the crew member, who was in critical condition. The team intercepted the vessel, which subsequently en route to Iran. The FV Abdul Rehman Hanzia, composed of 11 Pakistani (09 Baloch, 02 Sindhi) and 5 Iranian personnel, was en route to Iran.

Medication and Operation: The medical officer, along with MARCOS and the Ship’s Boarding Team, boarded FV Abdul Rehman Hanzia. Local anesthesia was administered, followed by suturing and splinting on the injured fingers. Over three hours of surgery ensured the crew survived until Iran.

Impact: Medical supplies, including antibiotics, were provided to assist the crew. The incident highlighted INS Trikand’s ability to perform life-saving operations in challenging waters.
