Revolutionizing Farmers’ Farming Experiences

In the era of rapidly advancing technologies and shifting agricultural landscapes, the Indian government has unveiled a transformative Digital Agriculture Mission in September 2024. This ambitious initiative aims to revolutionize farmers’ farming operations through innovative digital solutions.

Introduction to the Digital Agriculture Mission

The mission focuses on creating a Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for Agriculture, ensuring farmers have reliable and up-to-date information on their lands. Key components include:

  • AgriStack DPI: A comprehensive system that integrates tools like the Krishi Decision Support System and Soil Fertility & Profile Maps.
  • Farm registers: Geo-Referenced Village Maps, Crop Sown Registry, and Farmers’ Registry, established by State Governments and Union Territories to provide detailed data on farmers’ land and crop progress.

Target Achievements

By 2026-27, the mission aims to generate 11 crore farmers’ IDs, making digital solutions mainstream. In 2025, the Government has conducted a Digital Crop Survey in all states/UTIs, with significant progress made in Rabi 2024 and more regions in Kharif 2025.

Financial Support

State Governments and Union Territories receive technical and financial support to implement the DPI, ensuring timely delivery of solutions to farmers.

Conclusion and Vision

This initiative not only enhances farmer connectivity but also empowers them with digital tools that enhance productivity and profitability. As technology continues to evolve, the goal is to sustain and expand this success, shaping a future where agriculture is more productive and accessible for all farmers.
