The DAIRYING AND ANIMAL HUSBANDRY DEPARTMENT of the Government of Maharashtra is leading efforts that enhance milk production, infrastructure, and animal welfare, benefiting both farmers and livestock alike.

1. Vidarbha and Marathwada Dairy Development Project (VMDDP): Collaborative Effort

The VMDDP, initiated by the Government of Maharashtra and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), aims to boost dairy production in Vidarbha and Marathwada regions. This project emphasizes collaboration between the state government and farmers, focusing on improving milk quality and productivity.

2. “Supply of Milch Animals” Initiative

Under the Numerable Livestock Mission-Entrepreneur Development Scheme, this initiative targets enhancing animal health through vaccination programs. It also aims to increase dairy revenue by making feed more accessible and promoting trade among small-scale farmers in Maharashtra.

3. National Livestock Mission-Entrepreneur Development Scheme (NLM-EDP)

This scheme funds 8 Silage Manufacturing Units across Marathwada Region, supported by the State Government. It includes infrastructure development, promoting rural commerce, and enhancing milk production through better feed access.

4. Aanna Fodder Producer Company Limited: Trading Cattle Feed

registered under a central sector scheme, this FPO trades cattle feed to its members. With 100% subsidy for green fodder distribution, it has already engaged 300 farmers, contributing to their livelihoods and reducing costs through improved feeding practices.
