Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI) and School of Natural Product Studies (SNPS): Collaboration for Diabetes and Health Preservation

In a significant step towards advancing Ayurveda research in diabetes management, the Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI), Kolkata, under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) Ministry of Ayush, has signed a crucial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the School of Natural Product Studies (SNPS), Jadavpur University, Kolkata. This agreement marks the beginning of a collaborative research project titled “Evaluation of Vidangadi Lauham, a Classical Ayurvedic Formulation in the Management of Diabetes in Experimental Animals.”

Significance of the Collaboration

The MoU signing ceremony, attended by officials from both institutions, including Dr. G. Babu (Director), CARI; Dr. Anupam Mangal (Assistant Director, Phycognosy); Dr. Lalrin Puia (Research Officer, Pharmacology); Dr. Sharad D. Pawar (Assistant Director, Pharmacology); and Dr. Rahul Singh (Research Officer, AEP), underscores the commitment of both institutions to advancing Ayurvedic research in diabetes management. The collaboration aims to leverage their expertise in biophysical characterisation and pharmacological activity to develop safe, effective Ayurvedic formulations for diabetes in experimental animals.

The research seeks to establish a robust scientific foundation by evaluating Vidangadi Lauham’s use in diabetes management.
