Transforming Workflows: Automate PMR Submission for Service Providers

In today’s fast-paced business environment, maintaining high levels of performance, quality, and efficiency is critical for any organization, including telecom service providers. To ensure compliance with regulatory standards and meet customer expectations, these organizations must submit Performance Monitoring Reports (PMRs) regularly to their providers. However, the manual submission process can be time-consuming and error-prone. This is where automation comes into play, making the PMR submission process more efficient, reliable, and cost-effective.

Regulatory Updates: TRAI’s New Requirements

TRAI (Telecom Regulatory and Industrial Authority) introduced revised QoS Regulations in August 2024, effective from October 1st, 2024. These regulations mandate that every service provider create or upgrade their systems within six months of receiving these regulatory notifications. The key requirement is the submission of PMR data by a specified deadline.

The Role of PMRs

PMRs are essential for monitoring and ensuring that services meet QoS standards. They provide real-time insights into performance metrics, allowing providers to identify areas for improvement and make necessary adjustments. By adhering to these regulations, service providers ensure compliance with industry standards, reducing unnecessary costs and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Service Types and Automation

The regulations apply to access and broadband services in both wireline and wireless media. The automation process involves two main methods:

  1. Wireless Services: PMR data is submitted using Application Programmable Interfaces (APIs), which efficiently handle the large volume of data required for performance monitoring.

  2. Wireline and Broadband Services: These are being submitted through a user-friendly interface on the PMR portal, simplifying the submission process.

Benefits of Automation

  • Reduced Human Error: Automated systems minimize mistakes during report generation, leading to more accurate and reliable data.
  • Simplified Processes: The transition from manual to automated workflows reduces administrative tasks, allowing providers to focus on delivering superior service.
  • Efficiency: Automation saves time and effort, enabling providers to meet deadlines and deliver timely services.

Impact Across Services

The automation initiative is being rolled out across all telecom services. By March 2025, all service providers will submit their quarterly PMRs through an automated route, ensuring consistency and efficiency in the process.
